Butterflies, Flowers, Landscapes
I’ve had a busy winter getting some beautiful new items finished. These are my latest favorite shapes, butterflies, flowers, and especially tiny fairy landscapes. The flowers come from ideas I got at a class down at Merritt Ceramics studio. For the butterflies and landscapes, I’m using many ideas I got from seeing alebrijes sculptures down in Oaxaca, Mexico. Alebrijes are wooden animal sculptures covered with amazing and intricate painted patterns. They are a joy to behold and while mine don’t have nearly the detail of the Oaxacan masterpieces, I like to think they carry some of the exciting spirit of the originals.
